To encourage safe cycling and to promote positive interactions between bicyclists and motorists, local riders, bike clubs and various organizations will be hosting the CAPITAL AREA RIDE for SAFETY (CARS) on September 24th, 2017.
The CARS ride will carry the message across the Triangle encouraging bicycling, demonstrating compliance with the law, showing proper car/bicycling etiquette, supporting local tourism, and generating constructive dialogue.
This Sunday morning ride starting at 9am from Wakefield High School will be a 14-mile one-way ride to Halifax Mall or a 28-mile loop with assistance by the Raleigh Police Department along the way and at the intersections. A shorter (4-5 mile) alternative starts at the Lynwood Brewery.
Enjoy refreshments, socialize, and hear from a few statewide and Triangle-area elected officials, advocates and safety experts at 10am as we utilize the rest stop at Halifax Mall.
The CARS ride aims to promote the need to educate, raise awareness and encourage positive interaction between motorists and bicyclists. Proceeds will benefit BikeWalk NC’s safety education program, advocacy, and promotion work.
2017 Details will be provided as they become available.
